What BaZi is

If Feng Shui is considered Earth Fate, influencing our lives through the spaces we live and work in, Chinese astrology can be viewed as Heaven Fate, laying the foundation for our destiny based on the time of our birth.

BaZi written 八字 in Chinese literally translates into “8 characters”. A BaZi chart consists of a combination of 8 signs grouped into four pillars. The year, month, day and hour columns. That is why it is also often referred to as “the four pillars of destiny”. The 8 signs are composed of the 5 elements in their yin and yang polarity and the 12 celestial animals as derived from the observation of the cycles of the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets as well as correlations between celestial events with occurrences on Earth.

The individual distribution of the elements and their relationship to one another provide information about a person's strengths and weaknesses therefore allowing for an in depth analysis of how this person will cope with different challenges at different times.

We often find ourselves in situations at home or at work, when we cannot understand how another person can view the same situation so differently from us. Looking at the celestial animals, their archetypical traits and their elementary quality enables us to explore these differences. We can come to understand ourselves and better accept the personalities and motivations of us and others.

To understand how one person copes throughout the different stages in life a time column is drafted (Big Fate), which can be placed over the horoscope. It becomes clear which phase a person is currently in and allows predictions about future times with the aim to equip you with insights to make conscious and deliberate choices.
