Imperial Feng Shui

What Feng Shui is

Mankind has harnessed the forces of nature and the earth’s energy to improve their lives and living conditions since coming into existence. At the core of Feng Shui lies understanding the way you interact with your environment and how to get those forces of nature work with you – rather than against you - to achieve your full potential and create the most postive atmosphere in which you will succeed.

Feng Shui, written 风水 in Chinese, is derived from the literal translation “Wind and Water”, shown by the pictographic characters for "wind" 风 (Feng) and "water" æ°´ (Shui) - a vital connection for life to begin and prosper. In a nutshell you could say Feng Shui strives to protect life’s energy (Qi) from the wind and nurture it with water.

Fundamentally, Classical Feng Shui revolves around examining four pivotal areas: the external surroundings, the interior and exterior of the building, the impact of time, and the residents within the building. A variety of concepts around the building blocks of Qi, Yin & Yang, 5 Elements and the trigrams will be used to assess the energy and fine-tune it to make it work for those working and living there.

Feng Shui principles represent a blueprint that, if followed, can help balance and create harmony between the vital energies of Yin and Yang, that represent the duality of opposite forces that make up everything in the universe.

The secret knowledge of Imperial Feng Shui

Imperial Feng Shui is also know under the name Yuen Hom, which translates as "mystery of the void" and is the most advanced and scientific method known in Feng Shui today. Essentially, it is based on the principles of the binary code (Yin/Yang = 0/1) - expressed through hexagrams. Until 1912, Yuen Hom was used exclusively by the emperors of the Chinese imperial courts, their family members and their highly qualified Imperial Feng Shui masters. After the fall of the last emperor, the practice was banned in China. Only very few masters made it into exile and were able to preserve the knowledge.

While most Feng Shui practitioners only work on the basis of the 8 trigrams bagua map

with 8 compass directions, defining the quality of an area of 45 degrees per direction,

Yuen Hom's wisdom is deeply interwoven with the I Ching, also known as the Book of

Changes, which consists of 64 hexagrams. A hexagram in this context is a figure consist-

ing of six stacked horizontal lines (爻 yao), where each line is either yang (a solid line) or

yin (an open line).

Each hexagram occupies 5.625 degrees on the compass, so that all 64 hexagrams make

a full circle of 360 degrees. The individual 6 lines of each hexagram have a special meaning.

This gives a total of 384 energetic acupuncture points of 0.9 degrees of the compass.

(64 hexagrams x 6 lines per hexagram).

It allows pinching the energy with extreme precision and through the targeted placement of "assistants" at these points, an energy pattern can be changed, making very elegant solutions possible even in the smallest of spaces. It is highly effective and also works for very demanding and complex feng shui consultations. This is where the magic of Luminous Places comes to life.

How a consultation works

During our initial call I will ask you some questions about your home, the surroundings, its occupants and their aspirations. I kindly ask you to have a floor plan ready and maybe some pictures of the house in advance of our meet up.

We will then schedule an appointment to evaluate the property on-site, where I will survey the surrounding landforms and the house itself. I will be using my Luo Pan, my compass, to take various compass directions and measure locations outside and inside the building. Please plan for 2-3 hours of your time depending on the size of the building.

Before we meet I will already draft some basic energy patterns of the house and a preliminary BaZi analysis is included in every residential consultation for each (up to 4) family member.  Since every person is influenced by the energy of the house, this is a very critical and unique part of my Feng Shui consultation to be able to create successful outcomes that serves the entire family. Many of my clients follow up with a more in-depth BaZi analysis to help them assist in planning for the future.

A detailed report of the analysis completes the consultation. We will go through the findings together and speak about the possible remedies and ideas we have already discussed during my on-site visit, such as the implications of the building floor plan, construction date, interaction between the people and the house, facing and sitting compass directions, landscaping, possible stabilizing or activating locations and interior design details from a Feng Shui perspective. Recommendations for furniture placement, colors, artwork and lighting are all part of the residential consultation.

I encourage my clients to follow up after each consultation. First of all – I like to hear your success stories! They make me incredibly proud. But secondly every years changing energies might make adjustments necessary. So please be in touch once changes begin to occur.

Your Investment

The best way forward: Let's talk about your project! The initial discovery call is free of charge. Please have some starter information , e.g. floor plans or draft sketches about your property available for our conversation.

For guidance:

My fee depends on the project. A "normal" two-story house with small garden plot will usually take about 10 hours of work, including a site visit. Apartments, offices and commercial projects will all vary in size and in scope and therefore each Feng Shui consultation will be different and specifically configured to each situation.

My hourly fee is EUR 150,- net plus travel expenses for projects outside my hometown region of Hamburg Germany.

For each project you will receive a written offer incl. the total fee for the agreed scope of work – no hidden cost.
