This typical French cottage is part of a bigger estate dating back to approximately 1750. It is currently undergoing restoration.  It is situated nearby stunning beaches and beautiful walks in the western district of Aquitaine.  The owners plan to make this a holiday home offering space for group events of up to 20 people opening in 2024. I am very delighted to be part of this project!

With the goal of maintaining as much of the original character and authenticity, reproducing materials, and replicating tiling and painting techniques whenever possible, they would also like to include bringing outdated utilities and systems up to date. Therefore some of the still existing walls need to be knocked down.

When making structural changes, we need to be mindful of the existing energy flow and ensure renovations enhance, rather than disrupt, positive Qi. The second major challenge is its orientation concerning sunlight and prevailing winds and we will embrace the vast natural surroundings, ensuring that windows and openings provide scenic views and connection to nature. Since it has formerly been used as a servants house, that is not previously the case.

When it is finished, it will feature a very large lounge/dining area with a log burning stove, and three French doors leading onto an outdoor terraced dining area with a barbecue area. It will have a dedicated garden area besides access to the estate grounds and a rear covered porch. The vaulted ceiling of the kitchen will be restored.

Stay tuned for updates on this multi-facetted project.
