Classic family home

This family home was build on a plot of 1,000 square metres and had several construction restrictions on the footprint of the land from neighbouring buildings. It was build in the second row on a north south axis using natural materials and a state of the art energy efficiency system. 

The owners experienced several difficulties and setbacks during the building phase and were getting increasingly frustrated when they made contact with Luminous Places. The floor plan and shell construction was already finalized not allowing any changes to it. The owners had wished for big windows all around the house to let the sunlight in and to have the open plan layout of the ground floor connect the inside and outside space. 

When I surveyed the house I found several areas of concern, of which I have permission to disclose these two: 

1. The main door in the west is located directly opposite the kitchen window, creating Qi to rapidly "shoot through" the house instead of gathering. Since the kitchen plan was not finalized a big kitchen counter was installed to block the energy from rushing out. The storage and oven area was covered in wood panels to enhance a particular elemental quality in that specific location (which is earth - not wood, but that is another story to tell).

2. A spiral staircase in the center of the house connects the three different floors. Imagine the center of your home as its heart. Sooner or later the heart will become exhausted by the constant “up/down energy” when using the staircase. This will ultimately reflect itself in the energy of the people living there. Using the Yuen Hom Flying Star technique and by analyzing the Ba Chop to find energies that resonate with colours, materials and forms and by brainstorming with the owners on good artwork, we enhanced this area by putting up a Tree of Life design on the wall facing the main door. Additionally the installation of stair lights shadowing the rail would create vertical lines lifting positive energy upwards.

Further enhancements were installed in the office and the bathrooms to strengthen certain topics the owners had reported to be of concern.
